A poem for you

Mowing the lawn
by
John Jordan-Cascade

What kind of a man would I be if I did not mow the lawn today?

What form of heresy would it be if I wrote or read instead?

What kind of a suburbanite would I be if I did not mow the lawn today?

What kind of a husband would I be,

what form of degenerate low-life would I be if I did not

mow the lawn today-on such a beautiful, clear, sunny day?

Today is perfect for the mowing of lawns and other responsible activities. . .

Yet today I am more inclined to rest and relax and sip root beer from a tall, chilled glass
and,  overall. . .just NOT mow the lawn,

nor pursue other responsible things.

I am writing now, but feeling a wee bit guilty because

the lawn needs mowing and I. . .

I am not mowing it. . .

obviously.
